It is common knowledge that buildings are now the art works | sculptures of our city landcsape. The new ASB HQ rising over North Wharf at Wynyard Quarter is just that – a gigantic sculpture that  is setting the standard for architects to follow and improve on. Gone are the days (well at least I hope so) when buildings were square, dull and carbon copies of each other. Auckland has turned a corner and I sure as hell pray that we continue on this path – a brave new frontier that announces to the World that Aucklanders are progressive, full of life, risk takers and colourful creatures. I also hope that The Auckland Urban Design Panel takes note of this and makes sure that all future projects follow this formula. We demand exciting and bold architecture. Thank you ASB for having the vision and the courage to not backdown to the narrow-minded and repressed. I wish you all the best in your new home.
