Christchurch 22 JAN 2011
I remember CHCH.
I was in Christchurch exactly one month before the fatal earthquake on 22 February 2011 and consider myself very lucky to have been fortunate enough to be able to capture many of the city’s landmarks on film before they were gone forever. I recall a sigh of relief when I saw that some of my favourite buildings were left unscathed from the previous earthquake and that the city was looking as good as ever. Little did I know that the heart and soul of Christchurch will be ripped out exactly one month later. On this day I remember you Christchurch and I know that you will rise again – stronger and better.
I would like to share some of the photographs that I took on the 22nd of January 2011 with you. Please be aware that these photographs do have copyright and may not be used for any other purposes.
The Regent Theatre - no longer there.
This view will no longer exist.
A month later this statue will be lying on it's side and the cathedral will be in ruins.
Both of these buildings will be demolished.
The Gallery Apartments no longer exist.
The Art's Centre is badly damaged but will be restored.
I think that it is safe to assume that this will be gone.
Apparently these are gone ?

My heart broke when I saw these photographs. The Christchurch that I knew is gone forever
I couldn’t help shedding a tear, it is just dreadful.
My heart breaks for Christchurch, so sad.
